Hyosung has been playing a key role in a global industry by providing all types of motors, from low-voltage small motors to ultra-high voltage AC motors and is equipped with a 20,000kW automated production line with a capacity to manufacture over 40,000 motors each month.

A. Low Voltage Motor

With strict quality control and custom designs, Hyosung’s low voltage motors have gained the trust of worldwide customers. Type of Low Voltage Motor is IEC Standard Motor, NEMA Standard Motor and Explosion Proof Motor.

a. IEC Standard Motor (LV)

Hyosung’s low voltage motors are available models defined by the IEC including enclosed, semienclosed, flange and high efficiency types.

Hyosung offers motors that meet the KS and IEC standards with high-quality motors that best fit the standards as well as operate optimally, especially in industrial environments.

b. NEMA Standard Motor (LV)

Hyosung’s NEMA standard motors are designed based on the NEMA standard to meet the requirements of market needs.

The motor apply highly reliable class F and H insulation types that are resistant to both heat and moisture. The use of carefully selected electric materials, precision parts, and bearings reduces mechanical loss and minimizes both vibration and noise. International certification from UL and CSA, and manufactured with higher efficiency than defined by the US EPAct and CSA.

c. Explosion Proof Motor (LV)

When an electric device is used in a location where explosive gas or steam is present, such as a petrochemical plant, an explosion-proof motor must be used to prevent the possibility of an explosion.

An explosion-proof motor must be used to prevent the possibility of an explosion. Hyosung’s explosion-proof motor ensures the safety required by domestic and international standards;

B. High Voltage Motor

Hyosung has supplied motors for power stations since 1978 and has developed super high voltage insulation systems of the 13,200V class for atomic power plants, proving its excellent reliability. Type of High Voltage Motor is IEC Standard Motor, NEMA Standard Motor and Explosion Proof Motor.

a. IEC Standard Motor (HV)

Hyosung’s IEC standard motors feature excellent insulation systems and strict process controls and quality management that allow for a low vibration and noise structure design. Its double cage rotor structure and special varnish finishing, as well as international standards (e.g., IEC, NEMA, and IEEE), allow the motor to run perfectly under various load conditions including a condition with a wide moment of inertia.

c) EXPLOSION-PROOF MOTOR (HV)

Hyosung’s explosion-proof motor is a special self-protective motor which does not
ignite due to an external explosion in highly-explosive areas and endures explosion
pressures that occur from the inside of its container.

  1. Ex d – The container endures internal explosion pressure when explosive gas explodes or steam causes a large pressure increase. In addition, the motor is structured to protect from external explosive gas or steam that may enter through the joints or openings.
  2. Ex p – The protective gases’ pressure is maintained at a higher level than the external environment to create an explosion-proof structure that protects the motor from external influence.
  3. Ex e – This motor has a mechanically and electrically enhanced safety structure against temperature increases for preventing an electrical spark and arc, which can act as an igniter for the explosive gas or steam in operation.

C. DC Motor

Hyosung’s DC motor is very strong in terms of its mechanically and generally used as a driving motor of a variable-speed continuous process, which requires high speed variability and precision.

D) Special Motor

With the capability to manufacture all types of motors, ranging from general industrial motors to special-purpose, Hyosung is able to deliver optimum motors suitable for any place and any purpose.

a) MARINE MOTOR

Hyosung’s marine motors are designed for wet, moist, and corrosive environments. The marine motor design adopts a corrosion-proof frame which allows the motor to be operated normally even when the motor gets wet. In addition, a space heater is used to remove the moisture in the motor when the motor is frequently started in a moist environment after a long period of non-use.

b) INVERTER DUTY MOTOR

Hyosung’s inverter duty motor changes the input of the motor as desired and controls the speed and torque over a wide range and even making it possible to precisely control speed and torque at low frequencies.

c) WOUND ROTOR MOTOR

d) POLE CHANGE MOTOR

Hyosung’s pole change motor offers both a separate winding and changes the wiring to a specially designed wiring for the purpose of variable speed in order to control the requested speed.

e) ALUMINIUM FRAME MOTOR

Aluminium has higher thermal conductivity and lighter weight than iron. Hyosung’s aluminium frame motors use an aluminium frame and brackets. Through optimized design, they provide a superior cooling effect and aluminium motors are 15 ~ 45% lighter than the casting-framed motor. In addition this type of motor is compatible with previously installed motors because it uses the same frame dimensions as the standard motor.

f) TRACTION MOTOR

Hyosung’s traction uses a vacuum pressure impregnation method for perfect dielectric strength of the stator wound.

g) PERMANENT MAGNET MOTOR

Hyosung’s permanent magnetic (PM) motor is a combination of the induction and permanent magnet motors and it operates like the induction motor during start-up, but, during rated operation, it operates like the permanent magnet motor for a high efficiency and power factor.

h) HIGH EFFICIENCY

Hyosung’s BLDC is compact and lightweight through the adoption of a highperformance SmCo permanent magnet and also via adopting the coil and insulation specifications, which can endure high temperatures of up to 180ºC. Its exterior is made of aluminium alloy to resist vibration and shock. Its structural characteristics are strong against vibration and shock, and are designed and manufactured according to military standards. The BLDC motor, which is mass-produced, is available from 0.6~106 kW, up to 25,000rpm. The induction motor for a torpedo adopts a 7-phase motor for maximizing its output.
